German
Motors was established in 1968 at this same location,
1360 Simms Street in Lakewood.
Heinz and Helen Nickel, original owners of German Motors,
began by servicing Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volkswagen vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz brand soon began to dominate and became
the German Motors' specialty. In 1990 the Nickels retired
and sold the business to Mark Yoakum, the present owner
and operator.

Mark
R. Yoakum graduated from Denver
Automotive and Diesel College in 1977. He then
started his career at a major Mercedes-Benz dealer in
Denver where he became a Mercedes-Benz Master Technician
and received the Star
Technician Award in 1985. He advanced from
Mercedes-Benz line technician to shop foreman and then
to service manager for the entire multi-line dealership,
all in 10-years. Having met his professional and personal
goals at the dealer level, he set out to achieve his highest
aspiration -- to own and operate his own Mercedes-Benz
repair facility. In 1987 Mark began his employment at
German Motors. Three years later he took control of the
business. Using his extensive Mercedes-Benz dealership
knowledge and experience, he transformed German Motors
into a modern service and repair facility specializing
solely in Mercedes-Benz. He acquired all the latest and
most advanced Mercedes-Benz-approved diagnostic equipment,
built a comprehensive data library, and hired and trained
service technicians to his exacting professional standards.
Under his direction, the shop has become known for its
technical expertise and customer
service.
