About Us Location Commitment Testimonials

German Motors was established in 1968 at this same location, 1360 Simms Street in Lakewood. Heinz and Helen Nickel, original owners of German Motors, began by servicing Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volkswagen vehicles. The Mercedes-Benz brand soon began to dominate and became the German Motors' specialty. In 1990 the Nickels retired and sold the business to Mark Yoakum, the present owner and operator.

Mark R. Yoakum graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1977. He then started his career at a major Mercedes-Benz dealer in Denver where he became a Mercedes-Benz Master Technician and received the Star Technician Award in 1985. He advanced from Mercedes-Benz line technician to shop foreman and then to service manager for the entire multi-line dealership, all in 10-years. Having met his professional and personal goals at the dealer level, he set out to achieve his highest aspiration -- to own and operate his own Mercedes-Benz repair facility. In 1987 Mark began his employment at German Motors. Three years later he took control of the business. Using his extensive Mercedes-Benz dealership knowledge and experience, he transformed German Motors into a modern service and repair facility specializing solely in Mercedes-Benz. He acquired all the latest and most advanced Mercedes-Benz-approved diagnostic equipment, built a comprehensive data library, and hired and trained service technicians to his exacting professional standards. Under his direction, the shop has become known for its technical expertise and customer service.

Matt Sisneros was a graduate from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 2003. Matt also began his employment at German Motors while he was attending DADC in 2001, attending classes in the evenings, five days a week. Matt continued his education with the hands-on training and education that occurs at German Motors each and every day. In the Spring of 2007, Matt was appointed shop foreman. His added responsibilities include intensive supervision and training of our other qualified technicians.

Walt Sigmann graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College and became an ASE Certified Technician in March of 2003. However, he began his employment and training at German Motors in November of 2000. Walt worked full-time at German Motors during these years and attended classes at DADC in the evenings. He left German Motors for a brief interval in 2003 to attend the Mercedes-Benz ELITE Technician Training Program in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Walt also worked at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in New York City during this training period. In April of 2004 Walt was welcomed back to German Motors.

Kyle Buffington completed the Warren Tech Automotive Technology Program in May of 2006 and joined German Motors full time upon graduation. This comprehensive program is approved by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Kyle continues to enhance and hone his skills for the specialized world of Mercedes-Benz service and repair. He is also pursuing an associates degree in the evenings.

Mark put together this highly-qualified staff and remains a part of all aspects of German Motors. We encourage you to visit our immaculate facilities and meet the members of this service-oriented team.
